Data Breach Alert was conceived in 2009 and has evolved ever since to deliver fast, reliable breach notifications and real guidance when your personal information is exposed. Founded and run by Terrance Kohler—a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business owner and serial vetrepreneur—it’s based in the Rocky Mountains and driven by a lifelong commitment to protecting people.
My awareness started early: While managing an apartment complex during college, I witnessed a university enrollment office leave a social security card visible on the counter for anyone passing by. Later, as a U.S. Air Force veteran (1981–1988, Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist and TurboProp Engine Mechanic), I received my own data breach alerts—including one from the VA in 2006. Over the years, I’ve gotten at least five notifications from compromised companies, reinforcing how easily identities can be at risk and how delayed alerts leave people vulnerable.
That’s why I created Data Breach Alert: to do for your name and identity what community crime alert programs do for public safety—provide timely warnings so you can act before damage occurs.
